MacDonald Illig Senior Parnter Jack Mehler has been representing public and private companies, banks, developers, non-profit corporations and individuals in a wide range of legal matters for more than twenty years. He concentrates his practice in real estate, banking, financial (conventional and municipal) and general business matters. Jack has handled financing transactions larger than $125,000,000, and advises clients with locations in Brazil, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, in addition to Pennsylvania and New York.

Jack is an affiliate member of the Institute of Professionals in Taxation where he has served as the Vice Chair of the Legal Committee since 2003, and is an affiliate member of the Appraisal Institute. Jack has written numerous articles and is a frequent speaker before peer groups on issues of business, real estate, appraisal practice and property tax litigation.

Jack Mehler was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gannon University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, and he obtained his juris doctor degree cum laude from the University of Dayton School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, the United States Federal District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and in New York State. He is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, Erie County, and New York State Bar Associations.

He is a Trustee of the Erie County Bar Foundation, serves on the Real Estate and Business Practice Committees of the Erie County Bar Association, and is Chair of its Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. He also serves on the boards of a number of non-profit corporations. Jack has served as the solicitor to the Builders Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania since 1987, and he represents housing and other real estate developers and investors throughout western Pennsylvania. Mr. Mehler is also a nationally recognized bond counsel, listed in the “Red Book,” and a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.

Jack has represented numerous taxpayer-clients and developers in property tax appeals and projects throughout western Pennsylvania on many different types of properties as diverse as marinas, waterfront shipping facilities, hospitals, shopping centers and malls, industrial plants, truck terminals and warehouses, commercial and professional office buildings, corporate headquarters, hotels, and senior living facilities.
