$25,000 Winner Arlingtons Landscaping

The goal of this project was to make this property stand out from its surroundings while negotiating the undesirable features. Some key solutions are as follows: A timber retaining wall was placed on the hillside with paver steps. The right side of the property was screened using a combination of firs and crabs. The property was planted with a mixture of deciduous and evergreen material for year-round interest. Instead of hardwood mulch, red lava rock was used. A French drain was installed in the back yard’s low point for drainage. Perennial color was added. A dry-stacked wall was installed on the corner
bed under the weeping crabapple.
