Builders & Leaders Scholarship

2005/2006 Information

Please see our guidelines below. You may drop off or mail your completed application and other required paperwork at the Builders Association offices located at 2415 West Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16506.

Before completing the following requirements please review the guidelines listed below and note that any application submitted without the requirements completed will not be considered. All responses are to be (printed or typed) on a separate sheet of paper and returned with this application form. The entire application package should be dropped off or mailed to the Builders Association office so that it is received on or before  May 2, 2005.   

Note: 
The following four requirements must be met with NO exceptions!

1. An essay of 300 to 350 words, answering this question, Why Should We Award You a Scholarship?

2. Two letters of recommendation: (i.e., Teacher, Counselor, Principal, Employer, Clergy Person etc.)

3. A photocopy of the applicant’s current transcript from high school or current education institution.

4. A photocopy of the applicant’s/student’s acceptance or continuationletter from the institution he or she will be attending in the Fall Term of 2005/2006. Also provide the address of the Institution’s Financial Aid office and a contact person’s name to send the awarded scholarship to (if selected).

GUIDELINES:
 
The Builders Association’s Scholarship Programs’ purpose is consistent with it’s mission as symbolized by its’ slogan, thus in order to achieve “…A Better Tomorrow”, we must invest today – in our community’s future – BUILDERS & LEADERS.

This scholarship is open to all employees or dependents of the Builders Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania member firm/individual. The member (firm/individual) is required to have completed 12 months of membership at the time of the scholarship application submittal and be in good standing.

The applicant must be accepted by a secondary post education institution or a trade school prior to submitting this scholarship application.

The applicant’s submitted transcript copy must indicate at least a 2.00 GPA or a grade level of a C.

The applicant must exhibit good character, (integrity, self-discipline, enthusiasm etc.). These qualities will become evident by reviewing all of the Application Package documents submitted.

Upon satisfaction of the requirements, the applicant’s financial need may be deemed relevant.

The awarding committee may request a personal interview with one or more of the applicants.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY:

The awarding committee will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, religion or handicap when selecting the recipients for two separate scholarship awards.

Each award will have a minimum scholarshipvalue amount of $500.00 dollars. However, the programs governing body will determine the actual scholarship value annually and announce this information prior to the May 2, 2005 deadline for submitting the Application Package.
